A scale suspension bridge whose roadway is divided into
eleven load-bearing segments so that concentrated or distributed loads can be placed arbitrarily along the span. The roadway can be left flexible, as a pure catenary, or stiffened by two stainless-steel rods to approximate a rigid beam — letting students compare the two limiting structural behaviours side by side. Cable and support forces, together with the angle of the suspension cable at the pylons, are read by the
ST501 supports on the
ST500 frame and streamed in real time to the Sangari software.
